"You shouldn't have done that..."
"You've met with a terrible fate, haven't you?"
Discovered at the beginning of my foray into Creepypastas, Ben Drowned was an immediate win for me. I love Majora's Mask (its a very underrated game) and that game is already kinda creepy, but this pasta just kicks it up to 11.
It starts with what is now (and may have been back then) a cliché for video game pastas: the author (Jadusable) picks up a suspicious looking copy of MM from a sketchy looking old man. Upon playing he realizes that the game is extremely glitchy, and NPCs start mixing up his name (Link) and Ben's, the name of the second save file. Jadusable deletes Ben's file, but soon realizes that he made a mistake.
The Elegy of Emptiness statue (top left picture) begins to randomly spawn in behind him wherever he goes, becoming more and more aggressive. The game continues to mess with Jadusable, and once he uploads footage to his computer, Ben actually starts speaking to him, slowly driving him to the bring of insanity.
It's a lengthy read, but if you only check out one pasta from my list this is the obvious choice. The fact that the game footage is included only serves to enhance the experience. I've only covered the beginning portion of the story; the rest of the horror is for you to discover yourself. Oh, and be sure to listen to the music in the link below, it's a good way to get into the creepy feel of Ben Drowned. Otherwise, you might meet with a terrible fate yourself...
