When Slender: The Eight Pages first came out it was an instant success, with many claiming it was one of the scariest games around. Later, Blue Isle Studios released The Arrival, the full fledged version and we got to fully immerse ourselves in the the nightmare.
You play as a girl named Lauren who drives out to her friend Kate's house, but find the place completely deserted and covered strange scribbles of a tall, thin man. You hear a scream coming from the woods behind the house, and set out to investigate. These are the same woods from the Eight Pages, and true to the original you must collect them all and avoid the Slenderman in the process. And, just like in Eight Pages, he catches you in the end anyway.
You then wake up in front of the Kullman Mining Facility, and once you descend into the mines, you discover that Slenderman is no longer the only threat around. You are repeatedly stalked by a hooded being (later revealed to be a proxified Kate) that will give you chase while you desperately search for gas to power the lift out of there. While I can do the mines with no problems now, the first time I played it I was completely on edge the entire time. Having to avoid not one, but two beings at once added a whole new thrill to the game. And I'll never forget the first time I downloaded The Eight Pages. Whew.
