The Last Command, 1993
When I first read the Young Jedi Knights series I immediately took to Jacen Solo, Han and Leia's son. He was a goofy loveable character that would lead his friends (alongside his twin sister Jaina) to victory against the Shadow Academy, the Yuuzhan Vong invasion, and the Dark Nest Crisis. During this time he fell in love with and married Tenel Ka Djo, a Dathomiri warrior and fellow Jedi student.
Unfortunately, Jacen was destined to follow in his maternal grandfather's path, and due to his time as a tortured prisoner of the Vong and the death of his younger brother he ultimately fell to the dark side. The once carefree and courageous boy had become a major threat to the New Republic, and in the end his own sister was forced to kill him in a duel. In his final moments, Caedus turned back to the light and died as Jacen Solo.
I can't say that I was too happy with the way Jacen's story turned out. I saw a lot of myself in him while reading Young Jedi Knights and to see him give himself over to the dark just seemed like a strange move for the character. Nevertheless, he is a great addition to the Star Wars lore, and on Thursday I'll find out whether the theory of Kylo Ren being Han and Leia's son (in essence, Jacen) holds any merit.
Also, Jacen and I are still a lot alike. We both married super awesome redheads that don't think our jokes are very funny.
