Episode IV: A New Hope
Hands down, Darth Vader has to be the most iconic character in Star Wars history. From the moment we saw him step onto the Tantive IV (yes, I'm that big of a nerd) amidst the Stormtroopers, we knew this guy was gonna be awesome. That raspy, mechanical breathing, the super-cool black samurai-esque armor... We knew this wasn't somebody to mess with.
The revelation that Vader was in fact Luke's own father (Gasp!) was quite possibly the biggest plot twist in cinema history. To this day Star Wars movies (especially the new one) have been obsessed with trying to connect everybody together, but this was the original shocking family reunion.
Darth Vader took the top spot for my favorite villains list and, strictly speaking in a movie sense, he's my all time favorite character. However, he's still only #2 on this list. Check back tomorrow to find out why!
"You're all clear, kid, now let's blow this thing and go home!"
Han is probably the most memorable lead character from star wars, and everything about him is fantastic. He's a smuggler who only cares about himself at the start of the films, and ends up being an amazing character that would do anything for his friends, and to bring down the Empire.
Han's presence is felt from start to finish as he leads many different charges against the empire, and their plans. Han is a pretty rough character that can't stay out of trouble, and does things his own way, but these are all things that make him the great character that he is.
His pilot skills are unmatched, and his wit is the best in the galaxy. These are all reasons Han is my number 2.
I can't defend this choice. I realize it's silly. I really like Greedo for some reason. He is a funny green looking alien with a funny sounding language, and he is a victim of that ruthless villain, Han Solo. Greedo was just trying to do his job and support his wife and kids by bringing to justice that thief who stole and dumped Jabba's stuff. Despite what those people at LucasArts and George Lucas would try and have you believe with the rewriting of history, Greedo was an innocent guy just trying to do his job.
